Drinking Alcohol at Events in Bangkok until 11PM Allowed

Bangkok, 16 March 2022: Over the demanding course of two years facing massive business challenges for businesses worldwide, countries have opened while others are thinking the best practices to return to normal life. Drinking alcohol at events is one of them.

Drinking Alcohol at Events in Bangkok Permitted

Thailand recently announced to change from a pandemic status to an endemic situation from 1 July 2022, and preparations to reach this goal are underway.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has announced to ease the regulations of drinking alcohol in Bangkok until 11 PM, effective from 15 March 2022.

Drinking alcohol is permitted during MICE Meetings, incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions at hotels, exhibition and convention centres, exhibition venues, department stores, shopping centres, community malls, and other meeting facilities or similar places.

Event Planners must follow requirements as stated below:

    • Organizers strictly follow and implement the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and collaborate with the Office of Convention and Exhibition Promotion.

    • Alcoholic beverage consumption is only allowed in SHA Plus restaurants and other SHA Plus Locations. If not SHA Plus, the venue must be certified Thai Stop Covid 2 Plus.

    • Alcoholic consumption is allowed until 11:00 PM.

    • Total participants for the meeting or event customers/participants must be in line with the BMA guideline for implementing Notification No.45, which was issued five months ago on 30 October.

Restaurants or “Converted Restaurants” (these are bars that during Covid-19 expanded into food sales) were able, after this conversion, to earn an extra income from the sales of alcohol.

Easing alcoholic sales to 11:00 PM helps hotels and other meeting and event locations to serve alcohol during seminars and events that previously weren’t possible as technically, bars and similar venues remain legally closed under the current COVID-19 regulations in Thailand.
